May 9, 2025 – San Diego, CA – Connie Morris, creator of Morris Bias Initiatives, host of The Morris Perspective Podcast, and former law enforcement officer, is committed to creating a more inclusive society through honest dialogue, practical education, and bold truth-telling. Her passion for equity led her to publish two books with Cognella Academic Publishing, Rethinking Implicit Bias Training and The Propaganda of Racism.
“In today’s world, we more than filtered lessons and headlines shaped by politics,” said Morris. “We need the courage to confront injustice, the clarity to recognize embedded bias, and the tools to dismantle systems. My books don’t just raise awareness. They expose the design of inequality and help individuals challenge it at its roots.”
Rethinking Implicit Bias Training critically examines the concept of implicit bias, particularly within the context of police training and the broader societal implications of racism. It guides readers through the intricate world of criminal justice, highlighting contemporary issues critical to cultivating justice and empathy within the profession.
In The Propaganda of Racism, Morris unpacks the powerful forces shaping society’s beliefs about race. This work examines racism as a social construct—a concept society has created rather than one based on biological fact—and reveals its pervasive influence across domains like education, politics, religion, and media. Through vivid examples, Morris highlights how propaganda—deliberately biased information designed to sway public opinion—reinforces these racial constructs, upholding systemic inequalities.
“At a time when DEI is under attack and history is being rewritten—erasing the legacies of slavery, Jim Crow, and systemic exclusion—these books respond boldly to the hidden systems that survive by silencing truth,” said Morris.
Rethinking Implicit Bias Training and The Propaganda of Racism are available to adopt within higher education courses focused on justice, sociology, education, public policy, or race studies. The books are also well-suited for training programs within social justice-oriented organizations.
