Interior Designer at Ferguson Builders:

  • Salary: $50,000-$70,000 Annually.
  • Job Type: Full Time, Monday to Friday.
  • In-office with occasional vendor and site visits (on and off-site), some travel.

Who We Are Looking For?

We are looking for a brilliant Interior Designer who enjoys coordinating all the design work from concept to completion for our construction projects to join our team! You will be responsible for producing technical drawings and plans to build the client’s vision. You can effectively communicate with homeowners, designers, architects, engineers, and vendors to create coordinated designs to be used during the build. You have a strong desire for growth and learning about the construction industry.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as an interior designer, cabinet designer, or lead designer in a design-build or residential construction company.
  • Excellent listener with strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, deadline-oriented, and detail-driven.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with individual excellence and initiative.
  • Education in interior design, drafting, or architectural design, or equivalent work experience.
  • Solid understanding of construction materials and residential building techniques.
  • Proficient in Buildertrend or comparable project management software, Office Suites: Google/Microsoft.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in space planning, cabinetry design, and architectural drafting.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide clients through the design and selection process from concept to pre-construction handoff.
  • Produce quality design work that aligns with client needs, design trends, and budget goals.
  • Present design ideas effectively using mood boards, sketches, CAD drawings, and design boards.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with architects, designers, estimators, project planners, and project managers to align vision and execution.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for selections, design meetings, and construction packets.
  • Source, order, and track interior finish items, cabinetry, and other design elements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors and trade partners, negotiating pricing and managing orders.
  • Use Chief Architect or similar CAD tools to produce conceptual drawings, construction sketches, and design layouts.
  • Assist clients in making timely and informed selections by providing product options, coordinating vendor appointments, and attending meetings as needed.
  • Ensure all selections and documents are updated in Buildertrend and made available to internal teams as required.
  • Stay informed about building codes and the latest design concepts for structural, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as current industry trends.
  • Maintain and improve Ferguson Builders’ design processes, sample library, and selection methods.

Your First 90 Days:

All roles begin with a 90-day employment agreement. We start with this to confirm we’re a great fit for each other. Our onboarding period provides extensive training and feedback while you learn the ins and outs of the role. At the end of 90 days, if we’re both feeling great about it, we’ll extend a new employment agreement for a permanent position on the team.
