When you join our **EEG** **Monitor Technician** team, you will be part of a team in charge of all patient's requiring neuro monitoring within the facility. Monitor Techs are required to watch neuro rhythms for abnormalities and alarms. They are also responsible for escalating changes and recognizing dangerous rhythms and notifying the healthcare team.
This position is for a **Full Time Night Shift, 7pm to 7:30am.** This will include weekends and holidays on a rotation.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for continuous observation of inpatient video and EEG recording for an uninterrupted clean recording and for reporting pertinent changes and abnormalities to the appropriate clinical staff. This position also maintains logs of activity and changes or behaviors in accordance with facility standards. This position responds to patient events and ensures patient safety.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides continuous observation of inpatient video and EEG recording for an uninterrupted clean recording and for reporting pertinent changes and abnormalities to the appropriate clinical staff.
2. Recognizes and detects changes in the recording of the patient. Competence in deciphering artifacts from cortical activity. Alerts nursing, physicians and/or technologist staff when clinical seizures or other paroxysmal events occur.
3. Responds to patient events timely and accurately while maintaining patient safety according to policy and procedure. Accurately documents patient information in the recording system, patient logs and within the EEG recording.
4. Utilizes knowledge of monitoring system and camera control. Performs troubleshooting of computer hardware, software and network issues within scope of training. Communicates with patient and/or EEG Technician to identify and resolve technical issues during the EEG study. Escalates issues to management as appropriate.
5. Communicates effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary staff and "hands-off" pertinent patient information during shift changes.
6. Effectively manages high patient volumes and ensures all patient issues are resolved in a prompt and professional manner.
7. Completes hospital training to alert supervisor and/or activates hospital systems such as rapid response and cardiac arrest per established protocols when encountering patient clinical issues.
8. May assist Neurodiagnostic Technologists with restocking supplies, electrode removal, regel, and disinfection.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Minimum of one-year direct patient care experience required. .
Must possess working knowledge of medical terminology.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including weekend rotation.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work within strict timelines.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Requires good problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to interact professionally with hospital staff, neurologists and other technologists.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Science-based background or area of study is preferred.
One-year direct patient care in an epilepsy monitoring unit.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
